Last Monday, on October the 14th, some of us,
went for a picnic at Tawau Hills Park. The park was about ten-minute drive from
the town of Tawau. The road to the park was paved yet steep at some place.
We quickly found a spot when we reached the park. While some
prepared the items for the barbecue, a few of us went for our little exploration.
This rainforest park was very damp on that day (as I believed) due to heavy
rain the night before.
The rainforest was old; I could see trees with big trunks
and exposed roots in the park. The trees were towering high.

Paths were provided to make the walks easier.

Sadly, the counter was closed and this was all they could do…
A beautiful
river was streaming in the park. The water of the river was slightly brown that day;
it must be due to the rain.

The best feature of the river was the waterfall. I remembered
when I was small; this waterfall was opened to the visitors. Today, fences had
been built along the path. This was the closest point to the waterfall I could
get.

| It looks beautiful and terrifying in the same time. |
After a few hours in the park, we saw a group of monkeys. They were
aggressive. They made the hissing sound when we came close by, scary enough to
make us step backwards.

But nothing could beat the beautiful, smiling people in the pictures…
wonderful fellowship I had with them that day.
