Some Saturday Jokes For You
Story 1
High over the Alps, an airplane – carrying
the pope, a famous soap – opera leading man, and a boy scout – caught on fire. The
pilot, who was no hero, put on the first parachute he could find, told his
passengers there were only two chutes left, and bailed out, leaving them short
one parachute.
“It pains
me, but I must take one of the chutes,” said the actor. “People all over the
world admire me, and millions of women adore me. I am the greatest actor in the
world.” Just before jumping, he looked at the other two and intoned, “I must do
this for my fans. Farewell!”
Time was
running out, so the pope said to the boy scout, “My child, I’ve had a good long
life, and my faith tells me the next world will be a better place than this. You
are young and have everything ahead of you. Take the remaining chute with my
blessing.”
“Not to
worry, Your Holiness,” the boy said, “Mr. Vanity just bailed out with my
knapsack on his back!”
Story 2
Dad was giving Junior one of his
Abe Lincoln lectures. “When he was your age, Lincoln walked seven miles to
school – each way.”
“Yes, sir.
And when he was your age, he was President of the United States.”
Story 3
Just as the
preacher was about to enter the pulpit, a woman in the congregation handed him
a note requesting the congregation’s prayers for her husband. The note read: “Bill
Adams having gone to sea, his wife desires the congregation’s prayers for his
safety.”
But the
preacher was pressed for time and read the note a little too hastily, telling
the congregation that, “Bill Adams, having gone to see his wife, desires the
prayers of the congregation for his safety.”
Story 4
The young
seminarian was filling in for the church’s minister, a very popular preacher
who had suddenly been taken ill. Although he was obviously nervous, the youth
gave a respectable sermon, then concluded his prayers with a fervent, “And may
Pastor Hale be filled full of fresh veal and new zigor!”
Story 5
The wife had
been talking for at least ten minutes before she looked over to where her
husband was sitting, absorbed in the newspaper. “Why don’t you answer me?” she demanded.
“I did,” he
replied, turning a page.
“No, you
didn’t.”
“I shook my
head no.”
“Oh, pardon
me. I guess I didn’t hear the rattle.”

Inside My Heart - Robin Mcgraw
Just finished reading this book. It is written by Robin
Mcgraw, the wife of Dr.Phillip Mcgraw. The book actually talks about the
life-story of Robin herself. She basically shares the many important events in
her life, her thoughts and feelings during the events that finally led to her
reactions and choices at the time. As I read through the book, I couldn’t help
but to be so emotional; one time I smiled, the other time I cried. In the first
chapter, Robin pens “I am on a mission to get you excited about your life”, and
I think that accomplished…well, at least for me. Her excitement is contagious. But
overall, it is an easy read. I think I would recommend this book to all ladies.
